This month, we’re introducing a new series; Fora Financial Features! In these posts, we’ll highlight different individuals on the Fora Financial team, and explain how they play a pivotal part in how we supply our working capital products, small business loans and merchant cash advances, to business owners nationwide. Each member of our team has a unique perspective on the alternative lending industry, and we can’t wait for them to share their stories with you!

Our first Fora Financial Feature is on Evan Brown, a leader in our Business Development Department. We sat down with Evan to get his perspective on our strategic partnerships, working capital products and what it’s like working at Fora Financial.

Role at Fora Financial: Business Development Manager

What does your position entail: I help oversee and manage the day-to-day operations in the Business Development department. In addition, I manage existing partner relationships, while also going out and finding new and exciting partnerships to grow and benefit Fora Financial.

Elaborate on our partnerships and why they are a great opportunity: Our partnerships are with various types of businesses and people, whether they are small brokers who have intimate relationships with their clientele, or big strategic partnerships in which we help add value to their services. Partnerships are so important to what we do here at Fora Financial, because we can constantly reach clientele in new ways that only our partners can provide us with.

What do you enjoy about attending and exhibiting at trade shows: I love having the opportunity to talk to people who are all looking for partnerships. Trade shows give us the ability to connect with new partners, while also getting to meet up with our existing partners, and allowing us to strengthen those relationships. Getting to connect with these partners out of an office setting is beneficial and allows us to get to know them on a different level. Plus, we are able to travel to places all over the country! This year, I’ve been everywhere from California to the Mall of America for various trade shows.

One of my favorite parts about attending trade shows is being around influential industry leaders and people at all levels of a company, it really gives you an idea of what is going on in our space. Then, I’m able to take back what I’ve learned to Fora Financial, which helps us improve how we serve our customers, and the partnerships we offer.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Fora Financial: Fora Financial provides a fast paced, ever-changing environment, and I love that it always keeps me on my toes! I really enjoy working with the other members of the Business Development team, as we all have to work together to ensure that our partners are given the best possible service.

What are your goals for the Business Development department: My goal is to continue to grow the department, so that we can provide our partners with supportive personnel to meet their needs, while adding new and exciting partnerships, and introducing new products to our repertoire.

What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed in the space this year? The focus by almost all funders and brokers has been on technology. I’ve seen such improvements in process, as well as underwriting and focusing on the customer experience.
